These Terms of Use govern access to and use of the website nalgoritmo.com (the “site”) and of the tools offered on it by Nalgoritmo Solutions (“Nalgoritmo”, “we”). By accessing or using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site.
1. The site and its tools
Nalgoritmo offers free online tools that run in your web browser, with no account required:
- Sequential Translator: translates a text word by word, in the original order, with each word followed by its translation in the context of the sentence, and lets you download the result for Word, EPUB or PDF;
- Boolean Algebra Exercise Generator and Expression Solver: generates logic-circuit exercises and solves Boolean expressions;
- Statistical Data Set Generator: generates sets of numbers for practicing descriptive statistics;
- Number Base Conversion Exercise Generator: generates exercises for converting numbers between binary, octal, decimal and hexadecimal.
These terms apply to all of these tools and to any tool that may be added to the site.
2. Permitted use
You may use the tools for personal, educational and professional purposes, such as studying, teaching, preparing classes and reading texts in other languages. The results you produce with the tools (the translations of your texts, the exercises, the answers and the files you download) may be used in these activities, including in classes and study materials. When you share exercises generated on the site, we appreciate it if you mention Nalgoritmo as the source.
3. Intellectual property
The site and its content belong to Nalgoritmo Solutions, except for the third-party components described in section 7. This includes, without limitation:
- the source code of the site and of its tools (HTML, CSS and JavaScript), including the implementation of the sequential translation with context, of the exercise generators and of the expression solver;
- the texts, explanations, examples and translations of the interface;
- the visual design, the layout and the organization of the pages;
- the name Nalgoritmo, the logo and other distinctive signs.
These elements are protected by copyright, software and industrial property laws (in Brazil, Laws No. 9,610/1998, on copyright, No. 9,609/1998, on software, and No. 9,279/1996, on industrial property) and by the international treaties to which Brazil is a party. Using the site does not transfer to you any right over them.
Nalgoritmo grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable license to access the site and use its tools through a web browser, in accordance with these terms. Any use that is not expressly allowed requires prior written authorization from Nalgoritmo.
4. Prohibited uses
Without prior written authorization from Nalgoritmo, you may not:
- copy, reproduce, clone or mirror the site, its pages, its source code or its design, in whole or in part, or publish copies of them on other sites, apps or platforms;
- modify, adapt, translate, decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer the code of the site or of its tools, except to the extent expressly permitted by law;
- create derivative works, clones or competing tools based on the code, texts or design of the site;
- extract content or code from the site by automated means, such as bots, crawlers, scrapers, scripts or artificial intelligence tools, in order to copy, clone or reproduce the site or its tools (indexing by search engines is allowed);
- use the content or code of the site, or results generated with its tools on a large scale by automated means, to train, fine-tune or feed artificial intelligence or machine learning models;
- remove, hide or alter copyright notices, the Nalgoritmo name or its logo;
- use the Nalgoritmo name or logo in a way that suggests a partnership, sponsorship or endorsement that does not exist;
- sell, rent, sublicense or otherwise commercially exploit the tools themselves, for example by offering them as your own service;
- use the site for unlawful purposes, to infringe the rights of third parties, or in a way that overloads, interrupts or compromises its operation or security.
5. Your texts and results
The texts you enter in the Sequential Translator remain yours. They are processed in your own browser and device, by the Translator API built into the browser or by the offline translation engine that runs on the device, and are not sent to Nalgoritmo or stored by it. You are responsible for the texts you translate and for respecting the rights of their authors; the translations and the files you download are for your own use, within the limits of those rights.
The offline translation engine downloads each language pair once and keeps it in your browser's storage, on your device, so that it also works without internet. The site also keeps in your browser your preference for the side menu (open or closed). You can delete this data at any time by clearing the site data in your browser.
6. Automatic translations and results
The translations are produced automatically by translation models and may contain errors, inaccuracies or omissions. They are an aid for reading and learning and do not replace a professional translation, especially for legal, medical, financial or other texts in which accuracy is essential.
The exercises, answers, simplified expressions, statistical results and step-by-step solutions are generated automatically for practice and study. Despite our care, they may contain errors; check important results.
The site and its tools are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the extent permitted by law.
7. Third-party services and components
The site uses services and components from third parties, which remain the property of their owners and are used under their own licenses and terms, such as:
- the Translator API built into your browser;
- the open-source Bergamot translation engine and the translation models of the Firefox Translations project, by Mozilla, used by the offline engine;
- libraries such as Bootstrap, JSZip and jsPDF, and the content delivery networks that serve them;
- Google's advertising service (Google AdSense), which may display ads on the site.
The intellectual property rights described in section 3 do not cover these components. The use of personal data and cookies by these services is governed by their own policies.
8. Availability and changes
The tools are free and may be changed, suspended or discontinued at any time, in whole or in part, without notice. Some features depend on your browser and device: for example, the Translator API is not available in every browser, and the offline engine needs an internet connection the first time each language pair is used.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Nalgoritmo is not liable for damages arising from the use of the site or from the inability to use it, from errors in translations, exercises or results, or from decisions made based on them. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot be limited under applicable law, including consumer rights.
10. Links to other sites
The site may contain links to third-party sites. Nalgoritmo does not control these sites and is not responsible for their content or practices.
11. Violations
Uses that violate these terms may result in the blocking of access to the site and in the measures provided for by law, including the protection of Nalgoritmo's intellectual property in court.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms at any time. The date of the last update appears at the top of this page, and the new version applies from its publication. If you continue to use the site after an update, you accept the new version.
13. Governing law and languages
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil. They are available in Portuguese, English and Spanish; in case of divergence between the versions, the Portuguese version prevails.
